How to Make a Flyer with AI (Free, Print-Ready)
A practical guide to making a flyer with AI, from what to write and which size to pick to exporting a print PDF and checking every word before you print.
A good flyer does one job: it tells people what is happening, when, where and what to do next, in a few seconds. AI can now design the whole thing for you, including the text, but the result is only as good as what you give it. This guide walks through making a flyer with AI Flyer Gen, from the words you type to the file you send to the printer.
Step 1: Decide what the flyer must say
Before you open any tool, write down the answers to five questions:
- What is it? A bake sale, a grand opening, a lost dog, a job opening.
- When? Day, date and time. Include the weekday: "Sat, Nov 8, 7 PM" is easier to read than "11/8".
- Where? A street address, a venue name, or "online".
- Why should I care? One offer or highlight: "Free entry", "20% off everything", "Reward offered".
- What do I do next? A phone number, a website, "Tickets at the door".
If an answer is not needed, leave it out.
Step 2: Fill in the flyer form
AI Flyer Gen turns those answers into a form, so you do not have to write a prompt.
- Use case: pick the closest match (event, business, party, sale, real estate, restaurant, church, hiring, lost pet or other). It sets the overall tone and the kind of picture.
- Headline (required): the one line people should read from across the room. Keep it under about six words.
- Details: one or two short sentences. This is the smallest text on the flyer.
- Date and time, Location, Offer, Contact: fill in only the ones you need.
- Picture idea: describe the image you want, such as "a golden retriever with a red collar" or "fresh bread on a wooden table". This is never printed as text.
Everything you type in the text fields is placed on the flyer exactly as written, and nothing else is added. That is how the generator keeps spelling correct: it is told which words to print and to print no others.
If you prefer, switch to free-text mode and describe the whole flyer in your own words. Put any text that must appear in quotes.
Step 3: Pick a style and a size
Choose one of eight styles (modern, bold retro, elegant, playful, neon, hand-drawn, corporate or community) and a color palette, or let the palette follow the subject.
Then pick the size for where the flyer will be used:
| Size | Best for |
|---|---|
| US Letter, 8.5 x 11 in | Printing in the US and Canada, bulletin boards, handouts |
| A4, 210 x 297 mm | Printing almost everywhere else |
| Square, 1:1 | Facebook and Instagram posts, WhatsApp |
| Portrait, 4:5 | Instagram feed posts |
| Vertical, 9:16 | Instagram and Facebook stories, TikTok, phone screens |
If you need both a printed and a social version, generate the print size first, then generate again in the social size with the same text.
Step 4: Generate and check every word
Click generate. Standard quality is fine for drafts and social posts; use HD when the flyer will be printed and you want sharper detail.
Image models spell well now, but not perfectly. Before you download, check:
- every word against what you typed, letter by letter;
- numbers: dates, times, prices, phone numbers and street numbers;
- web addresses and email addresses, which are easy to get slightly wrong;
- that nothing important is cut off at the edges.
If one line is wrong, generate again. Shorter text usually comes out cleaner.
Step 5: Download for print or for screens
- PNG is best for posting online, sending in a message or adding to a slideshow.
- PDF is best for printing. It is sized to the page (US Letter or A4), so a home printer or print shop will print it at the right size without guessing.
Downloads have no watermark.
Printing tips
- Print at 100% / actual size. Turn off "fit to page" unless the edges get clipped.
- Keep text away from the edges. The generator leaves a margin around the text, but most home printers cannot print right to the edge. A thin white border is normal.
- Print one test copy first. Read it at arm's length and from a few steps away. If you cannot read the date from across a room, the headline or date should be shorter.
- For a print shop, send the PDF and ask for the same paper size, no scaling.
A quick example
For a lost dog flyer, the form could look like this:
- Use case: Lost pet
- Headline: LOST DOG
- Details: Golden retriever, 3 years old, red collar. Very friendly.
- Location: Last seen near Maple Park, Oct 26
- Offer: Reward
- Contact: Call Sam 555-0142
- Picture idea: a golden retriever with a red collar, sitting on grass
Pick the community style, US Letter size and HD quality, check the phone number twice, and download the PDF.
